Wednesday evening in the Brida Café, Fruitloop slid a question onto the table: Does confidence grow or shrink when we compare ourselves to others?

The Mayor raised an eyebrow. Sarah from Saudi Arabia stirred her coffee. And off we went.

We discovered that not all comparisons are villains. Racing a stopwatch on a morning run? That’s fuel. Counting cars, handbags, or Instagram likes? That’s poison. Somewhere between envy and inspiration, the line between growth and self-doubt was drawn and redrawn.

Age, it seems, sneaks in carrying a quiet gift: perspective. With it comes the freedom to laugh at the silly games, to choose self-acceptance over self-torment.

And because no Brida talk ends on a heavy note, we swapped our own theme songs, spirit animals, and pizza toppings. (Who knew mozzarella could say so much about your worldview?)

Confidence, we agreed, isn’t about being louder than the next person. It’s about listening, learning, and sometimes—ordering pineapple on your pizza without apology.
