Sometimes it’s not the words that give us power—it’s the clothes we wear.

In our latest Lunch with Janita & Frank, four of us shared stories about outfits that made us feel confident, awkward, or unexpectedly free.

Monica held up her brightly coloured shirt from a mental health initiative for Australian trades people. It wasn’t just clothing—it was a statement, a way to open conversations that rarely happen in that world. Rosii described a long green dress that makes her feel taller, calmer, beautiful. Bruce stirred the pot by admitting he feels most powerful when without clothes—leading us into nudist beaches, cultural quirks, and a lot of laughter. I told a story of my own fashion disaster: a pink shirt with flares that never should have left the wardrobe. Janita shared the experience of attending an event and bumping into someone who wore almost the same dress as her.

What struck us wasn’t just the humour It was the reminder that clothing reflects so much more than style. It shapes confidence, signals belonging, and sometimes even carries social good stitched into its fabric.
