Hello! My name is Sarah. I’m 13 years old. I live in the Alsace region of France. Welcome to my first podcast. Today, I will talk about food. It is something we French know a lot about and cannot stop talking. Frank will ask the questions.

What is your favourite food to eat at home?

My favourite food at home is fajitas. It is a Mexican dish. It is like a wrap. You can add anything you want. I had guacamole, chicken, spices, peppers and a special fajitas sauce.

Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself? What did you make?

Yes, I cooked several meals by myself. For example, Shepherds Pie (minced meat under a bed of mashed potatoes). Pasta with cream and ham for my father and me. I am the best in our house to bake a chocolate or a marble cake.

What is a traditional dish from your region you think everyone should try? I think everyone should try a Tarte Flambée. At first, people think it is like a pizza, but it is very different. It is one of the best meals in the Alsace region of France.

What’s the most unusual food you’ve ever tasted? I once tasted flowers in a very fancy restaurant. But I don’t know which flower it was.

Do you prefer sweet or savoury snacks? That is a difficult question. I love cake, candy. But I also love eating crisps or something similar. It depends on my mood.

What’s one food you’ve never eaten but would like to try? Perhaps, it is strange, but I would like to try African and Indian cuisine.

Who is the best cook in your family? What’s their best dish?

My mother and my grandmother are the best cooks in my family. My grandmother makes the best Boeuf Bourguignon and my mother makes the best soft-boiled eggs with a wine sauce and bacon cubes.

Have you ever helped cook a holiday meal? What was your role? No, it is often my mother who cooks these special meals. But, I lay the table and fold the napkins in a special decorative way.

What’s your favourite fruit or vegetable, and how do you like it prepared? My favourite vegetables are avocados, tomatoes, peas, and carrots. For the fruit, strawberries, mangoes, apples, pineapples, blueberries and passion fruits.

If you could invent a new pizza topping, what would it be? For the Pizza à la Sarah, I suggest: peppers, mozzarella cheese, sauce fajitas, avocados and saucisson (chorizo and salami).

Is there a food you didn’t like when you were younger but enjoy now? When I was younger, I didn’t like prawns. But now I enjoy them, especially in a Paella.

What’s the most important meal of the day for you, and what do you usually have?

For me, the most important meal of the day is lunch. I eat in the school canteen during the week. But generally, at home, I eat different meals.

If you were a chef, what kind of restaurant would you open and why?

If I were a chef, I would open a Mexican restaurant. I love Mexican food, and I think it is a little like Spanish food.
