“What would you tell your 12-year-old self?”

That was the question Frank put to Ismar in a recent Brida conversation. His answers were both practical and deeply human.

He spoke about shyness—the silent wall that keeps us from connecting. About the power of reading—because books don’t just teach, they expand horizons. About sports—especially swimming—not just for health, but for survival.

Ismar also touched on tougher lessons: controlling anger, staying tolerant, and using tools like firearms responsibly. He recalled missed opportunities, moments of injustice, and choices that shaped his career.

And yet, through it all, pride shone through. Pride in resilience. Pride in becoming who he is today.

The conversation closed on an honest note: would a younger self even listen? Maybe not. But the wisdom remains, waiting for the next generation—if they’re ready to hear it.
