Some conversations don’t need fireworks to be unforgettable—they sit quietly, like a warm cup of coffee that somehow keeps you awake all night. This week, the Mayor met with Ismar in Brazil for our Mindset Month theme, “Letting Go to Grow.”
It started with small talk about the weather (as many revolutions do) before turning into something far weightier: Ismar’s long struggle with faith, fairness, and the unsettling question of whether God truly has a hand in life’s unfolding. He spoke with candour about injustice, corruption, even homelessness on his own doorstep, and how these things make belief tremble.
The Mayor listened, nudged, and gently suggested that perhaps the answers don’t only come from above—or from professionals Ismar mistrusts—but from within. What followed was a raw, respectful dialogue on self-criticism, personal agency, and the courage it takes to shift a long-held mindset.
It wasn’t a sermon. It wasn’t therapy. It was two people, wrestling with big questions, daring to wonder what might happen if we release the weight of old certainties.
✨ Sometimes, letting go is the first step to growing.
