Sam
Hey everybody, it’s Sam here and Claire’s with me and uh we are back with another news roundup from Brida Podcasts.
Claire
That’s right.
Sam
Our awesome journalist Iris has been busy over in Campo Grande, Brazil; you know, keeping an eye on things for us, gathering some very interesting stories for you, Ismar.
Claire
Yeah, and we have quite the collection this time. You know, everything from like the strange and surprising to the pretty tragic.
Sam
It’s true. Life in Campo Grande is never boring, is it?
Claire
Never a dull moment.
Sam
Let’s dive in.
Claire
Yeah, let’s do it.
Sam
So, the first story Iris sent over is kind of wild. A driver in Campo Grande did the right thing and waited for a snake, to cross the road. But guess what? That snake had other ideas and ended up in the car’s engine.
Claire
Oh, no.
Sam
Can you imagine, Ismar?
Claire
I mean, I’ve heard of snakes being attracted to the warmth of a car engine, especially when it gets colder. But in the engine, that’s a new one. You know, I wonder what kind of snake it was. It could have been a jaraka. Those are pretty common in Campo Grande. So, maybe if you’re ever driving in Campo Grande and you see a snake, just admire it from afar, you know? Don’t get too close. Don’t try to be a hero, call a professional to handle it safely.
Sam
Safety first.
Claire
Exactly.
Sam
All right. So, speaking of keeping a safe distance, the next story is a tough one. A former police sergeant in Coxim has been arrested. For allegedly sexually assaulting his granddaughter.
Claire
Oh gosh,
Sam
It’s heartbreaking.
Claire
Yeah, it is. And it’s You know, important to remember that these are just allegations. Right now, everyone is entitled to due process, but it does make you think about the pressure and the potential strain that a career in law enforcement can have on a person. Not excusing this kind of behavior at all, but you know, it’s something to consider.
Sam
It’s a good point. It’s easy to forget the human element sometimes. Now, Iris also sent news of a terrible accident on the BR060. A motorist died after 12 days in the hospital following a rollover.
Claire
Oh my gosh,
Sam
It’s just awful. So sad accidents like this really remind us how fragile life is. Highways like BR060, especially with the terrain in Brazil, they can be dangerous, you know. It just emphasizes the importance of being careful when you’re on the road, especially on long drives.
Sam
Absolutely. But amidst these heavier stories, there’s a reason to celebrate. Flamingo won their fifth Copa Do Brazil title. Defeating Atletico Monero.
Claire
Five Copa Do Brazil titles. That’s amazing.
Sam
I know, right? It makes him a powerhouse in Brazilian football
Claire
For sure. For those who may not know the Copa Do Brazil, it’s a knockout competition. Kind of like the FA Cup in England. Or the Champions League in Europe, So, the stakes are high, and Flamingos win is a testament to their skills.
Sam
Absolutely. Five wins is incredible.
Claire
It is.
Sam
Okay. So, sadly, Iris also shared a disturbing story from Curumba. A woman was attacked with a machete by her son-in-law and lost her nose in the attack.
Claire
Oh, that is just horrific.
Sam
It’s a reminder of the darkness that exists everywhere.
Claire
Yeah, it’s heartbreaking. It makes you think about the victims and the need for better support systems.
Sam
I agree. We need to work to prevent these kinds of tragedies.
Claire
For sure.
Sam
Well, big thanks to Iris for bringing us these stories from Campo Grande.
Claire
Yeah, thanks Iris.
Sam
It’s been a journey, Ismar.
Claire
It has. You know, it makes you think, how do all these events connect? The snake in the car, the football victory, the violence, how do they reflect on the bigger picture of life in Campo Grande?
Sam
It is something to think about. Thanks, Iris.
Claire
Thanks, Iris.
Sam
I’m Sam.
Claire
And I’m Claire.
Sam
Bye-bye.
Claire
Bye-bye.
